This is partially based on Adventurous Kate’s post on Why she has a problem with Bucket Lists but also so that I can incorporate more of a years-length bucket list versus my lifetime bucket list to make shorter term goals. Kate argues that if your only goal is to check off items “by the time you die,” you are not making travel a priority, which I full-heartedly agree with. I have a simlar philosophy and straddle the responsible adult and “why not?” mentality very well in my opinion. The following is a list of items I hope to complete in 2013:
New Orleans: This city has always called me to it, and surprisingly, I haven’t been! I want to experience the United State South, as I haven’t been anywhere between Florida and Texas. I love the history and charm that this city has as well as a rich culinary, artist and musician community.
Volunteer locally and abroad: I think it’s important to give back to the community at home and abroad, so I think I will attempt to volunteer at least twice at home and once abroad. For abroad, I am thinking Haiti – has anyone ever volunteered there or anyone else in the Caribbean?

“Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, it’s at the end of your arm, as you get older, remember you have another hand: The first is to help yourself, the second is to help others.” -Audrey Hepburn
See at least one San Francisco Giants game at another venue: considering how many Giants games I have been to, I’ve only seen them outside our home stadium once and that was only across the Bay in Oakland! (click on the Giants links to read my two posts on the Giants!) COMPLETED! – read my post about going to see my Giants in San Diego! I also saw the Giants play at both Yankee and Mets stadium!
St Patty’s in Boston – Despite having travelled to Boston close to 10 times, I have never been to Boston for St. Patty’s! I have heard it gets pretty crazy! Get ready to hear about that experience with my friend who is born on St. Patricks Day! COMPLETED – read about it here!
Take another Spanish class: I would love to earn my minor in Spanish, so I will start taking steps to do so as well as working towards my Bucket List goal of becoming completely fluent in Spanish. I’d like to go to more Spanish language groups.
What’s on YOUR 2013 Bucket List??
Very interesting concept. I recently updated my bucket list. It does seem to take some of the joy out of the experiences, if you’re just focusing on checking each item off.
yes definitely, but that is a choice to focus on only the checking off of items- I get excited when I get to cross items off my list and I think I add more than cross off. I’ll have to check out your revised bucket list!
I definitely get that.
Thanks!
=)
