I had a rare couple days off from work so I decided to go camping down the coast in Big Sur! I started off my day early and drove to Highway 1, or the Pacific Coast Highway as it is also called. Highway 1 is a beautiful stretch of road that runs along most of the California Coast. One of my bucket list goals is to drive all the way down highway 1 in a convertible! But I digress..
The drive down was beautiful as always and the weather was stunning for the end of February! We stopped at periodic vista points to attempt to capture the beauty of the region with our cameras.
We arrived at our campsite around noon and checked in. Our campsite overlooked the beach, which was just gorgeous!
After setting up the tent and unpacking our things, we decided to check out the trail which led down to the beach. The winding trail itself was gorgeous with redwood trees and a babbling brook.
The bottom met a rocky area, which we climbed through to find our own PRIVATE BEACH!
We had a lunch of salami, cheese, bread and wine and layed out for hours, then watched the sunset.
Later, we went up, cooked dinner, played impromptu scattergories, making up our own categories as we forgot to bring any games or cards. We admired the beutiful full moon and talked around the campfire.
The food always seems to taste amaazing when you laboriously try to start a fire (after forgetting lighter fluid!) and wait for about an hour for water to boil! Camping is one of my favorite activies as you can really disconnect from internet, phones, and TVs and spend time with friends and family having great conversations, exploring nature and having fun in general!
beautiful place! it must have been an amazing adventure camping out there 🙂
It’s a beautiful and relaxing place and the drive is amazing too = winning!
